About Authors

  • Cheng Liu is a Professor and Chair Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering Technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University. Registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, his research interests include soils and foundations, highway materials, and hydraulics. Liu has authored several textbooks, including Soils and Foundations and Soil Properties – Testing, Measurement, and Evaluation, and has received research grants from the U.S. Air Force and other institutions.
  • Jack Evett is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He was among the founding faculty members of the department in 1967 and played a pivotal role in its development.
