About Hank Rutkowski
Hank Rutkowski, P.E., is a highly regarded HVACR consultant and the principal of HTR Engineering. With over three decades of experience, he has authored numerous HVAC design manuals, technical bulletins, and trade magazine articles. Rutkowski is the principal author of several industry-adopted HVAC design manuals published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), including Manual J® (Residential Load Calculation), Manual D® (Residential Duct Systems), Manual S® (Residential Equipment Selection), Manual H® (Heat Pump Systems), and Manual T® (Air Distribution Basics for Residential & Small Commercial Buildings). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Purdue University in 1966 and completed coursework for a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) at Akron University in 1971. Earlier in his career, Rutkowski worked as an engineer in the manufacturing industry and served as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kent State University. Rutkowski’s contributions have significantly influenced HVAC design standards, and his work continues to serve as a foundation for professionals in the field.
