About James P. Dunlop

James P. Dunlop is a distinguished expert in photovoltaic (PV) systems, renowned for his contributions to solar energy education and training. With over two decades of experience at the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), he has played a pivotal role in developing curricula and delivering training programs on PV systems. Notably, he led FSEC’s efforts to attain national accreditation for its PV training programs in 2001. Dunlop served as the charter technical committee chairperson for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) from 2001 to 2002 and resumed this leadership role in 2005, contributing to the development of certification standards for PV installers. In 2001, he became the first Master Trainer in PV systems certified by the Institute for Sustainable Power worldwide. Beyond his instructional roles, Dunlop has authored over 50 papers and technical reports on the design, testing, and evaluation of PV systems and equipment. Currently, he serves as a Curriculum Specialist for the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC), focusing on developing distributed-generation curriculum
