2021 Uniform Solar Energy Hydronic Code

The Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronic Code is a model code developed by IAPMO to govern the installation and inspection of solar, hydronic, and geothermal energy systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety and welfare. 

Key provisions of the 2021 USEHC and changes from the 2018 edition include:

• Solar Systems: Requirements for solar thermal piping, insulation, and electrical provisions for solar photovoltaic (PV) equipment.
• Hydronic Systems: Detailed guidelines for radiant heating/cooling, snow and ice melt systems, and steam-distribution networks.
• Geothermal Systems: Construction and safety standards covering open-loop, closed-loop, and direct-exchange (DX) ground source configurations.
