2018 Uniform Solar Energy Hydronic Code

The Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronic Code is a model code developed by IAPMO to govern the installation and inspection of solar, hydronic, and geothermal energy systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety and welfare. 

Key provisions of the 2018 USEHC and changes from the 2015 edition include:

• Solar Energy Systems: Requirements for solar thermal, water heating, space heating/cooling, and pool/spa heating.
• Hydronics: Guidelines for piping, equipment, and appliances intended to transfer heat using water or other fluids.
• Geothermal Systems: Standards for ground-source heat pump piping, heat exchangers, and associated components.
• Specialty Applications: Regulations for snow/ice melt systems and solar photovoltaic (PV) integration.
