The 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) was developed by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), a nonprofit organization founded in 1926. IAPMO’s mission is to protect public health and safety by coordinating the development and adaptation of plumbing and mechanical codes to meet the specific needs of individual jurisdictions both in the United States and abroad.

The UPC is developed using the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) consensus development procedures.
