Key changes to this revision include adding the following: a new section to address fit up requirements for bends and elbows; specific language and/or references to include non-pressurized pipe; guidelines for assembly of flanges; pig trap design safety requirements; the use of Multilayered Reinforced Thermoplastic Piping Systems (MRTPS); and requirements for general monitoring for Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOCs) and decoupling AOCs from covered task qualifications. In addition, the list of approved valve specifications has been expanded.
This Code prescribes comprehensive solutions for materials, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, testing and inspection. It also serves as a companion to ASME’s other B31 codes on piping systems. Together, they remain essential references for anyone engaged with piping.
Careful application of these B31 codes will help users to comply with applicable regulations within their jurisdictions, while achieving the operational, cost and safety benefits to be gained from the many industry best-practices detailed within these volumes.
